Friendly Chickens
Posh and Pecks after just three weeks seem to be very friendly Gingernut Rangers, they don’t run away from you when you get close to them, in fact they follow you around the garden watching everything you pick up. They are so inquisitive they seem not to miss a thing.
Posh is far the friendliest chicken at the moment, she constantly jumps onto the gate of the chicken run to perch just ensure she is on an even eye level; she likes to be stroked and is happy to be picked up. Pecks although friendly is not to keen on being picked up yet she will eat out of your hand, but as soon as she senses that she is going to be picked up she mutters and walks away.
The only time other than bedtime to handle Pecks is to wait for her to join Posh perching on the gate. We believe handling the chickens frequently is the best way to tame them and it takes patience.
The chickens love their afternoon exercise and it’s the best time for us to get to know them and vice versa. It’s amazing how time flies when outside with girls but they are so fascinating and relaxing to watch.

1. In case you didn't know,
In case you didn't know, Ginger Nut Rangers are Warren Hybrids. They are the cheapest hens you can get (usually) and are prolific egg layers, up to 360 a year. They are basically the British egg layer of choice but have a reduced lifespan compared to some other breeds.
