Chickens love probiotic yoghurt
I have not had much time with the girls this week owing to working late and night shifts, so I decided to spend a majority of the afternoon with them.
Today I thought I’d try the chickens on some probiotic yoghurt mixed with their usual afternoon treat of bokashi bran and Bill Oddies mealworm crumble.
As usually Posh and Pecks were pleased to see me and eagerly got down to their adopted afternoon routine, which comprises of eating some grass (what bit there is), running into the corner of the garden for a spot of digging and then onto the raised decking for treats.
It was whilst Pecks was on the decking that I noticed that she crouched as I approached her, this is a good sign as it means she is reaching maturity and should start laying eggs in the next few weeks.
We had the girls just over 7 weeks and I can’t imagine life without them, watching them grow and develop is fascinating. I only wish there was more chickens hours in the day.
Oh yes! Posh has learnt another new trick she can now jump onto my shoulder when I am sat on the decking. I’m considering taking her along to the next fancy dress party me as Long John Silver and her as his parrot Captain Flint.
