To ensure the chickens had a good workout this afternoon I decided to arrange a chicken version of a football match Pecks v Posh.

For the football I used the Treat Tumbler (for rabbits and guinea pigs) which we had previously purchased for approx £3 from the store Pets At Home

This time I filled the tumbler with layer pellets instead of mealworms. I rolled the tumbler along the patio to start the football game off as expected they chased the ball around the garden. It’s a shame I only had a camera on me and not a video camera because it was so funny to watch.

Using their feet and beaks they rolled the ball around to encourage the layers pellets to tumble out. I even joined in the game ensuring that I did not stand on anyone’s claws and cause a foul.

The chickens stopped half way through the game not for a break but because they noticed a spectator at the bedroom window peering down…it was one of our cats namely Thelma.

After a brief distraction and some very loud noises they resume the game only to run off into the corner of the garden for a spot of digging.

Unfortunately the result was 0-0 a rematch has been arranged for next month.
