Caecal shocker!

I must be the luckiest bloke on the planet. Wink Yet again, I was in the run clearing bits of poo (I'm starting to get a bit fixated!) and ran across a couple that worried me.

Apologies for the blurriness. caecalcaecal

The chicken poo was bright yellow and foamy so all sorts of things ran through my mind, especially as the hens are new and we are new to hen keeping! Disease, parasites, general unwellness, you know what I mean if you keep chickens too. It must be normal to be paranoid for their health, I hope anyway.

Luckily I remember a link posted in the www.omlet.co.uk forums that identified chicken poos! (Very useful forum)

Luckily the one that matches is a caecal type and it's expelled every 10 or so droppings as part of a clearing out process of the chickens caecum. I probably never noticed the caecal types before as many others of that type look normal.

Drama over for another day. Smile

1. I've just had it confirmed

I've just had it confirmed by two of the experienced regulars at the www.omlet.co.uk forums, Ain't Nobody Here and Egluntine that it looks like caecal. Thank you!
